How I Wear Pants Modestly

So today was yet another hot day, and my mother-in-law (Ruth) and I went to visit one of her friends who has so many different rescues. She has 9 cats, a few owls, other birds, possums (the Australian kind, not the American opossum), and an Australian animal called a bandicoot. It was such a nice day today.

I know this is a controversial topic, since many Christians strictly believe in not wearing pants of any kind. Please, let us be focused on those things spiritual, first and foremost, and keep in mind that God cares much more about what is in the heart rather than what is on the body, so let's avoid starting trivial debates.

While this is true, the Bible does say that a heart that strives to please God will also strive to dress modestly. The Bible describes modesty as being covered in shame and humility, along with covering more tempting or private areas. It also says that a man should dress as a man, and a woman should dress as a woman. This is where a lot of people take it that women should not wear pants. However, when I wear pants, I make sure I am modest and covered, along with making sure I look feminine. There would be no mistaking me for a man. It all comes down to the fact that if we wished to dress as they did in the Bible, we would all be wearing robes, even men. God's focus is on our creating a good witness for others, and humbling ourselves before Him.

How I wear pants is how I know a lot of modest-minded women wear them. I wear tunics or mini-dresses over them. I am a tall girl, so I can get away with wearing what would be a dress on someone shorter than me as a tunic. I follow the same rule as many others, as long as it covers my bottom and some leg, it is modest. My legs are covered, and so is my backside. I feel modest and no negative shame when doing this.

That being said, I do not wear pants to church. I wear dresses and skirts to church, as I always dress up for church and want to look my best for the Lord as His witness.

Here is what I wore this hot day, and how I tried to stay cool!

The top is from an op shop, the capris as well, and the little pink kimono from Kohl's.

It was a minimal makeup day, just some BB cream and that's it. 

Brunch in the City on a Hot Day...

Today it's about 90F and sunny, so it's pretty hot outside! My husband and I took a trip into the city for a few things, and we stopped for a coffee and a bit of food at The Coffee Club. I knew I didn't want to wear anything too hot, so I wore a skirt from Zulily, a lacy sleeveless shirt from Target USA, and a little kimono type jacket from Forever 21. I wore my comfy red shoes from Big W, as comfort comes first whenever we go to the city, since we end up walking quite a bit. My makeup was kept simple, as usual, with just some greyish-brown eyeshadow and some natural pink gloss. For jewelry, I wore some Pandora bracelets, along with a Tiffany Diamonds by the Yard necklace, and a diamond cross necklace.

From a Day on the Farm to an Evening in the City...

For those of you who don't know, my husband and I are currently living in Australia, my husband's home country. I am American, a more "southern," traditional Christian type of a person. I am from upstate NY, but the majority of my mom's side of the family was born and raised in the sunny state of Georgia. So, naturally, a Bible-totin', skirt-wearin' country gal doesn't exactly fit in super well here, a more modern city of 2 million people. Thankfully, we have the amazing gift of living on a farm with my husband's parents temporarily, as we await my husband's American spouse visa. Even though we live in the suburbs of such a large city, Perth, my mother-in-law is very much so a country girl herself, so she prefers to live in the more rural areas. We have 2 thoroughbred horses, 2 miniature horses, 4 adult kangaroos, 6 cats, a bunny, and our newest addition to the family, a rescued baby kangaroo.

Due to living on a farm with a lot of dirty, hands-on work, sometimes, my wardrobe has to be sensible along with stylish...

Usually my go-to shoes around the farm are a pair of muck boots or work boots, however, since today was one of the rare days we had to go into the city, I opted for a pair of gold ballet flats, something you'll likely see a lot of along with boots. The reason being, I don't actually own a lot of shoes here, since when I came, I could only take the pair on my feet and a new, unworn pair of flip flops due to customs.

Without further ado, here is my farm to city outfit! :)

I chose a white, lacy top, with a plaid button-down shirt as a jacket, with a slightly below the knee length denim skirt. My makeup was simple today, just some purple-brown eyeshadow, black liner on the upper lid, with subtle contouring and pink gloss. Apologies for the brows, threading is my usual go-to brow clean-up, and I have super sensitive skin so I tend to procrastinate on it a bit. ;)

I was inspired to create a blog where I could post my plus-size, modest outfits, hopefully to be able to show that plus-sized girls can be modest AND stylish, too! I always was insecure about my body, even before I was considered plus size. I hid in my baggy clothes, clothes that made me look bigger than I even was. I still, admittedly, do this (hehe, sometimes we all do!) but I learned how to do it in a somewhat more fashionable way! I seek to honor the Lord in my dress, and I do so based on how I interpret the verses in the Bible pertaining to modesty. My views on modesty may not be the same as yours, so please keep that in mind before making snide comments! God is very "it's the thought that counts" oriented, and as long as you seek and try to serve and love the Lord to the best of your abilities, with His help, He will be pleased.
